Owned and operated by Chris & Julia Stephenson, Bannockburn House is remote enough to remind you of days gone by whilst being close enough to everything you’d ever desire in a Central Otago holiday destination.

History surrounds the area and relics of gold mining days pepper the grounds. Gold tailings are visible from every aspect as are the steadily growing orchard trees including figs, pomegranates, almonds, apples, feijoa, hazelnuts, peaches, nectarines and plums.

Bannockburn is famous for its viticulture and there are many wineries who offer hospitality second to none. Enjoy a picnic, a wine tasting or a 5 star lunch – the choice is yours. Many of the wineries are within a 5 minute drive, a 20 minute bike or a leisurely 30-40 minute walk for those wanting to stretch their legs.  We are very happy to help share our favourite winery experiences with you so you don't miss out on some of the regions hidden gems.

The Lake Dunstan trail, accessible just 1km from our front door, offers cyclists and walkers a stunning journey through varying terrain.  Take a few hours to do part of the trail or a whole day to challenge yourself on the return journey, the choice is yours.  Ask us about bike hire options or transport options for a door to door service.  If you're continuing on to the Central Otago rail trail which commences in Clyde, we're the perfect starting point.

Cromwell township and the exclusive Highlands Motorsport Park are a 10 minute drive away;  Wanaka & Queenstown are a very scenic 50 minute drive. Central Otago, limitless activities amid the peace and serenity of the wide open spaces.

Bannockburn House was recently recommended in Stuff's Go To Guide for Central Otago in May 2022.
